MUX otherwise know as multiplexer is an apparatus that will chose
between multiple incoming signals from another component. MUX's
are used in an amazing assortment of everyday items from your home
theater system and of course your computer. You are using MUX's
daily without even realizing it. Digital semiconductors are also
built from using mutliplexers or MUX. From these they are able to
build CPU's and graphic controllers. MUX is also often used for
any component pertaining to communications such as your home telephone
line to a large telephone network. By using multiplexers with telephone
systems it reduces the need for a line for each phone; instead several
telephones can receive calls from one line. MUX is a way to work
within Internet protocols to improve performance. Although lines
are multiplexed users have the illusion of having there own line.
Therefore, enabling costs to decrease and allowing the line that
is used to be freed for other needs or services. Without the creation
and utilization of MUX we would be unable to conduct business as
we do today.
